The Big Event Tallahassee (TBE) is a student-led community service organization that brings together students from Florida State University, Florida A&M University, and Tallahassee State College to give back to the community through service. As one of Tallahassee’s largest student-run service initiatives, TBE connects student volunteers with homeowners, schools, churches, and nonprofit organizations to make a lasting difference throughout the community.

Building a Legacy: The 20th Anniversary Bed Build
In celebration of The Big Event Tallahassee’s 20th anniversary in 2027, TBE is partnering with Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP), a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that no child sleeps on the floor. Together, we aim to extend the reach of student service beyond our traditional events by helping provide safe, comfortable beds for children in need across our region.
Through this special initiative, we are working toward building and delivering 300 beds, engaging 500 student volunteers, and raising $50,000 to support children and families across seven counties in Florida and Georgia. Funds raised will help cover the materials and supplies needed to make each bed possible, including lumber, hardware, mattresses, bedding, tools, and transportation.
This milestone project celebrates two decades of student-led service while creating an opportunity to make an even greater impact in the communities we serve. We invite businesses and community partners to join us in building a legacy of service by sponsoring the 20th Anniversary Bed Build.
